Folks, tonight I was able to meet the one and only Mr. Kennedy, larger than life! Whatever I thought I was going to say to him ran away when we were introduced. I found some words to say and watched him do strange inking on the Vandercook press. He said aggravating things to me like "So you say you print?!? Ooh la la!" and "You look like you just got out of high school!" While I thought of what to say next, he went back and forth with the other visitors who could dish it out better than me :P The colors being printed changed as he added more ink every several sheets, streaks and globs flowing into unexpected patterns. What a huge laugh he has! As I studied the prints on the walls, I tried to visualize how the patterns had created each layer and just how many times a given sheet had gone through the press. Vivid spectacle: the man, the press, the dynamic posters on the walls...I'll be back for more. Hope you can make it out to witness for yourself and take a turn pulling a print. He'll be printing Thursday noon to 8pm, Friday noon to 5pm and Saturday will be a cash and carry sale from noon to 2pm.
